About the Book
I was inspired to create this book after capturing white-tailed deer running in the shallow waters of Lake Michigan and seeing the Spectacular Backlit Wave photo from fellow photographer Ron Klunk. Also, after seeing a photography book by Steve Brimm that included stunning winter scenes from the Keweenaw Peninsula of Lake Superior.
The photographers represented in the book are people who get out of bed early and leave the house before dawn to catch the special morning light. They brave frigid winter conditions to get a unique scene. Dragging heavy tripods and camera bags, they miss dinner in order to capture the golden hour lighting in the late afternoon. It shows in the photography!
I am so proud of this book. My wish is that 100 years from now it will provide a snapshot of life along the lake; that it will illustrate what Wisconsin and Lake Michigan looks like in the early 21st Century.
The photographers and I hope that seeing the pictures will bring your memories of the lake to life and inspire you visit it more often. As a friend put it, "The book blends the beauty of the lake with respect of nature."
Thank you for visiting!
